I want to welcome the Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs, the Honourable Senator Nigel Scullion, who will soon be handing the land titles to the Wurralibi Land Trust on behalf of the government.
AndI also acknowledge the attendance today of the Northern Territory's other Senator, the Honourable Nova Peris. Welcome, Senator Peris – I understand it's your first visit to this part of the world.
To all of you here this morning, on behalf of the Northern Land Council, welcome to this ceremony.
Helping our people get their land back is one of the NLC's basic functions; it's what we were set up to do.
As Chairman, I am proud of the work that the NLC has done to bring about the realisation of the land claim which is the reason why we're all gathered here today.
