CFC Regional Program Manager - 3 year contract

The Caring for Country (CFC) Branch is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and review of culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable land and sea management programs and strategies for Aboriginal people within the NLC region. As Regional Program Manager, you will lead and manage the development, delivery and review of the Branch’s regional programs, including joint management and enterprise development initiatives, in line with Traditional Owner and Caring for Country priorities.

Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience in natural and cultural resource management and participatory planning with Aboriginal people are essential.  

Applicants are expected to have knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and the Native Title Act 1993 and an understanding of the land and sea management, environmental, employment and economic issues affecting Aboriginal people in the NT.

You will possess demonstrated organisational and administrative skills of a high order, including experience in leading and managing a large dispersed workforce, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise work and meet deadlines. 

Advanced interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to undertake high-level consultations and negotiations to effectively influence internal and external stakeholders is required.

Travel to remote areas is involved and possession of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence and the ability to safely drive 4WD vehicles is required, as is a demonstrated respect and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.
