Media and Communications Officer (DS22)
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated professional to participate in the development and implementation of a variety of communication strategies aimed at ensuring that the general public, Aboriginal communities and interested stakeholders are informed about the work of the NLC and general land rights issues. You will possess a practical knowledge of media processes and operational requirements as well as experience in managing and delivering successful communications projects, such as marketing campaigns, media launches, publications, events management and exhibitions.
You will be responsible for providing strategic advice to senior management on media issues, opportunities and trends, and will have the capacity to work effectively in a sensitive, complex, confidential, cross-cultural and political environment.
The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary or professional qualifications, with high level communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders on key media issues, across a range of media including social media and desktop publishing.
Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the NT, and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people is essential, as is possession of a driver’s licence and the ability to drive 4WD vehicles safely.
