Ranger Group Development Officer (N62) - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (subject to extension once funding is confirmed)
This role involves working with Seafarms, Native Title Holders and other partners to complete the planning and establishment phase of the project and the development of a permanent Indigenous ranger group. The position will require substantial periods operating in and around the proposed Seafarms site and adjacent areas.
Applicants should possess a sound knowledge of Aboriginal Caring for Country management opportunities and constraints, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage work teams in remote locations. You will have experience working in partnership with Aboriginal communities in the development and delivery of natural resource management programs.
Good communication, negotiation and community consultation skills, with tertiary qualifications in land management, natural and cultural resource management or related discipline and/or extensive relevant experience is essential.
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people is required, as is possession of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence and the ability to safely drive 4WD vehicles.
