Salary: SOGB $98,685 - $114,676 pa + entitlements

This Senior Officer role is responsible for the application of the NLC’s Community Planning and Development (CP&D) Framework, with particular emphasis on working with Aboriginal groups that have resolved to apply income from land use agreements to social, cultural, environmental and economic initiatives that generate lasting community benefit.

As Senior CP&D Officer you will facilitate processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of CD&P programs and assist Aboriginal groups to undertake informed and inclusive planning and decision-making, manage their finances effectively and ensure initiatives are successfully implemented by project partners.

The successful applicant will be a committed individual with highly developed research and reporting skills includingadvocacy, negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to undertake consultations, make oral and written representations and develop and maintain relationships with NLC constituents, community organisations, industry groups and Government departments.

You will require strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communications skills and experience managing staff. Tertiary qualifications in community development or substantial professional experience in high level project management and delivery, working in an Aboriginal context involving capacity building, governance and participatory planning is essential. Social enterprise development experience would be highly regarded.

Applicants should have a sound knowledge of the NLC and the context in which it operates, including the cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting Aboriginal people in the NT. A willingness to undertake frequent travel and to work in remote localities, as well as possession of a current driver’s licence and the ability to safely drive manual vehicles is essential.
