Community Planning & Development Officer (CD07)
The NLC’s Community Planning and Development (CP&D) Program assists Traditional Owners who have resolved to apply their income from land use agreements to social, cultural and environmental initiatives that generate lasting community benefit.
The CP&D Officer will facilitate the establishment and implementation of initiatives under the CP&D program, and support Aboriginal groups to undertake informed and inclusive planning and decision-making, manage their finances effectively and ensure initiatives are successfully implemented by project partners. This position will have a particular emphasis on working with groups who have income derived from minerals & energy exploration and production agreements.
This position requires a committed individual with demonstrated skills in participatory processes, meeting facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to undertake complex consultations and to develop and maintain relationships with NLC constituents, community organisations, industry groups and Government departments.
Applicants will need to demonstrate well-developed skills in interpersonal and cross-cultural communications. Well-developed research and communication skills are also required.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in community development or other relevant field, with experience working cross-culturally in capacity building and project management and delivery is essential. Social enterprise development experience would be highly regarded.
Applicants should have knowledge of the NLC and the context in which it operates, including the cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting Aboriginal people in the NT.
A willingness to undertake frequent travel and to work in remote localities, as well as possession of a current driver’s licence and the ability to safely drive manual vehicles is essential.
